Description:
This is a top-quality antique English set of six William IV mahogany dining chairs, circa 1830, which have been recently upholstered and French polished by hand, in excellent condition.
These sturdy antique dining chairs are designed with an attractive curved bar back, with a pierced splat below, boasting pierced foliate, floral and scroll carvings, united by shaped, moulded vertical supports. The seat frame is raised on tulip carved ring turned front legs, with sabre legs to the rear. The design of these chairs suggests they are “transitional” dining chairs, implying they incorporate design elements from both the Regency and William IV cross-over monarchist period. This set of chairs boasts the original polish; therefore, they have a fantastic depth of colour and patination, displaying a lovely rich red and brown colour.
The seats have been recently and generously upholstered in a taupe / oatmeal colour structured cotton upholstery. Incorporating deep filled seats, they are extremely comfortable to sit on. The upholstery is clean and free from wear and marks. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seats in a fabric of your choice. We charge £25 per seat (labour), to recover in a fabric of your choice. All you need to do is choose and supply your material (we can advise how many metres are required).
These six William IV mahogany dining chairs, would look good anywhere, either in a formal setting or for everyday use. They would certainly grace any home or office and are a great investment, as they are extremely functional.
