Discription
This is a pretty solid antique 17th Century style oak dresser base, constructed during the Victorian period with three drawers, circa 1890, in excellent original condition. It was fashionable to reproduce earlier 17th and 18th century furniture during the Victorian period.
The dresser boasts a lovely size, with great craftsmanship with a solid oak top, with decorative blind lattice work carvings, flanked by circular carvings and a scalloped frieze. The three workings are decorated with Jacobean style geometric applied mouldings and retain the original brass swan neck handles. The drawers are pine lined and are constructed with hand-dovetail joints. The base is finished with a scalloped frieze. The dresser is raised on bobbin style turned legs with block legs to the rear, all of which are united by a central stretcher for additional strength. The backboards, side panels and drawer linings are constructed of solid oak and pine.
This 17th Century style oak dresser base, features a rich brown oak colour. It has a fantastic original colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This 17th Century style oak dresser base, would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The item would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional.
