This is a superb quality antique English Victorian burr walnut inlaid and gilt pier cabinet, circa 1850, in good condition, which is profusely inlaid in floral decorations and burnished with satinwood and floral marquetry including satinwood, boxwood, hare wood and holly to the top centre and top left and right sides of the cabinet. The cabinet boasts the original brass ormolu mounts to the upper and lower sections. There is elegant gilt beading to the perimeter of the canopy and this is also displayed around the glass door. There is a very an attractive doom shaped door which features the original glass (this is rare to see). The door has a working lock and key. The interior has been relined in a green velvet material with small motifs. The interior has two fixed shelves. The whole of the cabinet stands on a figured burr walnut shaped plinth.
This item features a rich yellow to brown burr walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This item is in excellent condition and commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. This item features an excellent original colour / patination. There are no splits to the walnut veneer on the top or either side. The glass, lock, gilt escutcheons and hinges are all original. The cabinet features a working lock and key. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
