Description:
This is a fine quality and original antique English Bentwood coat stand, with a demi-lune design, in the manner of Thonet, from Edwardian period, circa 1920, in good original condition. This Bentwood coat stand, takes the form of a dem-lune (half round) shape allowing it to stand flush against a wall. The top section incorporates a crown of 4-curved “s” shaped double coat hooks above a large central turned column, which is topped with a turned bulbous finial. Further below, the base features a demi-lune ring, which supports umbrellas and sticks. Three curved twin legs support the hallstand firmly on the ground. The Bentwood coat stand is designed to stand against a wall, which makes this a sturdier hallstand than those with four legs. The fact that this is a demi-lune shaped hallstand makes it more unusual and sought after, compared to four-leg hallstands. It is also ideal in narrow hallways, as it can be placed against the wall, thus saving space.
This Bentwood coat stand features a dark rich brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Bentwood coat stand would look superb in the hallway or an office. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
