Description:
This is a superb quality and rare antique English Edwardian mahogany Bergère suite, constructed in the style of the Chippendale period, comprising of three pieces, with a solid mahogany and canework frame, circa 1910, in excellent condition. Having a shaped / curved frame makes this a superior Bergère suite (worthy of exhibition furniture) compared to the usually angular / rectangular shaped Bergère suites which are commonplace in the market today. The mahogany Bergère suite comprises of two armchairs and a two-seat couch. The shaped wrap-around suite is constructed of top-quality solid mahogany, which features reed moulded frame. The mahogany Bergère suite incorporates double panel cane-work to the sides of the arms and single panel cane work to the back. Double panel cane suites are better quality than suites that just feature single cane wall throughout. This Chippendale style suite boasts a lovely curved shape on the frame from the back into the down swept arms. The base of the suite descends onto a finely gadroon carved frieze above well pronounced legs, decorated with acanthus leaves, terminating on claw and ball feet.
The mahogany Bergère suite has been newly upholstered in a top-quality hardwearing pale grey linen look upholstery fabric finished with matching braiding. The cushions have been piped and incorporate zips so that the top layers can be removed, if they need to be cleaned. The mahogany Bergère suite incorporates a newly webbed and sprung base, which ensure the seats are supporting but also extremely comfortable. The suite seats up to four people comfortably. This is a very comfortable suite due to the deep design of the frame.
The mahogany Bergère suite would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the conservatory. This item would certainly grace either a traditional or contemporary home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional and one of the finest quality examples of its peers. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely set of furniture.
The mahogany Bergère suite features a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
