Here is a fine quality antique English Edwardian oak captain’s office armchair, circa 1900, upholstered in crimson red faux leather, which is in good condition. This style of chair was also known as a “Captains chair”. The chair incorporates a curved padded and buttoned backrest, secured to upholstered wraparound arms, on shaped vertical supports. The arms are also connected to the padded sprung seat via ring turned vertical supports. The chair is upholstered in crimson red faux leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The underside of the seat is webbed in the traditional manner. This beautiful piece sits on ring turned legs to the front and splayed legs to the rear, terminating on solid brass castors. The chair is extremely comfortable to sit on.
The chair exhibits a mellow oak colour. As its boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or study as it is so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
The chair is in good working condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the oak frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item.
