Description:
Here is a fine quality antique Edwardian Queen Anne style mahogany & satinwood glass Bijouterie display cabinet / table, circa 1910, in excellent condition. This Bijouterie cabinet comprises a hinged glazed, satinwood & ebony string inlay moulded top, which opens up to gain access to the cabinet. The interior has been newly lined with a cream fabric. The cabinet retains its original working lock and key. The glass is original and in good condition. The cabinet is raised on four tapering satinwood string inlaid legs, united by a small inlaid under-tier.
The cabinet boasts classic Queen Anne design and styling, which is evident in the cabriole legs and shell carvings to the knees, satinwood inlay and design of the frame as a whole.
The cabinet features a warm, rich mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room or office. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.
Condition Report:
This Bijouterie display cabinet is in excellent overall condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and glass, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The glass is original and is in good condition, with no damage. The cabinet retains the original working brass lever lock and working key. The brass hinges are also original. The interior has been newly lined with top quality green wood baize. The satinwood inlay work is also in excellent condition, with no missing pieces. As the display cabinet boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
