Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian (George III) oak bureau desk, circa 1780, displaying a lovely mellow colour and patination, in excellent original condition. The bureau is in excellent working order and retains the original oak interior of eight small drawers with brass knobs, below six pigeonhole slots, as well as a central ‘cubby hole’. The fall is supported by two pull-out slides, with brass knobs. Below the fall is a bank of three graduated drawers, which are oak lined, hand dovetailed and feature the original swan neck brass handles and escutcheons. The fall and the drawers also each boast their original working locks, with working keys (one key operates the lock to the fall and bottom drawer, while a second key operates the lock to the upper two drawers). The bureau retains its original backboards and is raised on a moulded plinth, which stands on its original bracket feet.
The bureau would look superb in a variety of rooms, including the office, hallway, living room or dining room. This item base would certainly grace any home and is an excellent investment which has stood the test of time. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
