Here is a fine quality antique English George III oak provincial side table, circa 1780, displaying a lovely deep rich colour, in good original condition. The table incorporates a simple twin-plank bow fronted top, above a single flush working drawer. The drawer retains the original brass swan neck handle on circular escutcheons. The oak-lined drawer is constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints and is decorated with a cock-beaded front. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below the drawer, the table features a pretty shaped apron. The table is raised on four straight, tapering block legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
This item features a lovely rich brown oxblood oak colour and exhibits lovely medullary rays in oak. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, or useful as a writing table. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
This table is in good original condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, top and inside of drawer (see photos), but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer retains the original brass swan neck handle on circular escutcheons. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic deep rich colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
