Here is a fine quality antique English George IV Regency walnut cross-banded side table, circa 1820, displaying a lovely mellow colour, in excellent original condition. The table boasts a single plank top (quite rare to see) with cleated edges, above a single flush working drawer. The drawer retains the original engraved brass circular handle & escutcheon and is decorated with fine walnut cross-banding. The pine-lined drawer is constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints and is decorated with a cock-beaded front. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below the drawer, the table features a straight apron. The table is raised on four straight, tapering block legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
This item features a lovely mellow walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Regency side table would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, or useful as a writing table. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
This table is in excellent original condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, top and inside of drawer (see photos), but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer retains the original brass handle on circular escutcheon. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic mellow colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
