Here is a stunning quality antique English Art Deco bur maple, satinwood and walnut two-door wardrobe, circa 1930, in fineoriginal condition. The moulded top comprises a cloud shaped design. The two-door wardrobe boasts lovely mirror matched walnut veneers, original wooden handles and a brass shield shaped key escutcheon. The doors open to reveal a labelled tie rack on the left-hand door. The interior consists of a hanging space to the left hand side, incorporating a telescopic hanging rack. The bottom of the hanging space features a useful shoe rack. On the right hand side, the wardrobe comprises a fitted interior with a combination of shelves and drawers consisting of four open compartments and three glass-fronted drawers. The drawer’s retain the original metal drop handles; glass fronts and original mahogany lines, constructed with fine handmade hand dovetail joints. All drawers and compartments, as well as the tie rack feature the original labels, which is nice to see. Both doors retain their original wooden handles, while the left hand door retains the original internal securing sliding bolts, and the right hand door retains the original working brass lever lock (with working key). The wardrobe sits on a recessed cross-banded satinwood and walnut plinth. The cornice is detachable.
The wardrobe features a mellow burr maple colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The wardrobe would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the bedroom. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
This wardrobe is in fine original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The wardrobe retains its original wooden handles, plinth, brass key escutcheon, with the original working internal bolts, telescopic rails and shoe racks. The wardrobe also retains the original working lever lock, which comes with a key. The interior is clean and the compartments boast the original labels. The wardrobe is solid in joint and ready to use.
