This is a good quality antique English Art Deco rectangular shaped portrait wall mirror, circa 1930, in good original condition. The mirror is constructed with an elegant rectangular design, with an arched top and bottom, as well as a bevelled edge to the glass. The back of the portrait mirror retains its original backboard, with a new metal hanging chain (for safety reasons). The portrait mirror retains its original glass, which is in good condition, with signs of foxing and some marks.
The portrait mirror is a good practical piece of furniture; its size, not being overly large or small, is such that it would be well suited in a wide variety of spaces, but tall enough to act as a full-length dressing mirror. The portrait mirror would look superb in several rooms from the hallway to the bedroom. The portrait mirror would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. This is a pretty antique English Art Deco rectangular shaped wall hanging mirror, circa 1930, in satisfactory, original condition, given its age. There are nominal old use marks, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The mirror retains its original glass, which is in satisfactory overall condition, with signs of foxing and other marks (please see photos). “Foxing” is a term used to describe silvering in antique mirrors that has deteriorated and turned misty, or appears to have tarnished in areas. Light “foxing” serves to demonstrate the pleasing patina of age. The back of the mirror retains its original backboard, with a replacement metal hanging chain, for safety reasons. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to be used.
