Description:

This is a fine quality antique Art Deco pedestal dressing table, constructed from stunning figured walnut, comprising five drawers, with a central adjustable mirror, circa 1930, in excellent condition.  The Art Deco dressing table boasts its original oval mirror which is good condition.  The mirror angle can be adjusted by extending the steel stay behind the mirror, which connected to the pedestal base.  The mirror is supported by a pair of tenons that fit into the back of the dressing table.  The mirror can be moved for safe transport or access in the house and up the stairs.  The Art Deco pedestal dressing table base incorporates a central sunken well, with a central bow shape drawer, flanked by two pedestals, each housing two large drawers.  The drawer fronts are decorated with stunning brass and figured mahogany handles.  The Art Deco pedestal dressing table is raised on a splayed plinth base.

The Art Deco pedestal dressing table, has been cleaned and then French polished by hand to a professional standard, therefore the finish, colour and patination is of an excellent standard.

Condition Report:

This is a fine quality antique Art Deco pedestal dressing table, constructed from stunning figured walnut, comprising five drawers, with a central adjustable oval mirror, circa 1930, in excellent condition.  The oval mirror in good original condition, with minor foxing visible to the bottom of the mirror (see photo).  “Foxing” is a term used to describe silvering in antique mirrors that has deteriorated and turned misty, or appears to have tarnished in areas.  Light “foxing” serves to demonstrate the pleasing patina of age.  Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item.  The Art Deco pedestal dressing table, has been cleaned and then French polished by hand to a professional standard, therefore the finish, colour and patination is of an excellent standard.   The pedestal drawers close flush to the frame.  The brass and figured mahogany handles are in good condition.  This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
