Description:
Here is a fine quality English George V Globe Wernicke oak four-tier glass waterfall bookcase, circa 1920, incorporating a drawer, in excellent original condition. Retaining the original Globe Wernicke logo and strapline (‘Globe Wernicke – Always Complete but Never Finished – Made in England’) in the top tier, the bookcase is constructed of four main tiers with a cornice above. Each tier retains the original glass sliding doors, with original working door mechanisms and knobs. The bookcase measures 2ft 10⅛” wide, so will fit in a compact space. The bookcase stands on a lower section which incorporates a deeper working drawer, above the bracket feet. The working drawer retains its original handles, likewise the backboards are original. The bookcase dismantles into several sections for easy access and transportation.
This glass bookcase features a rich mid-dark oak colour having been cleaned and French polished by hand in our workshop to a professional standard. It therefore boasts a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the office or library. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.

Here is a fine quality English George V Globe Wernicke oak four-tier glass waterfall bookcase, circa 1920, incorporating a drawer, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The bookcase stands on its original plinth and retains its original bracket feet and backboards. Each tier retains the original glass sliding doors, with original working door mechanisms and knobs. The working drawer retains its original handles – the drawer bottom shows signs of old ink marks. The backboards are original. The bookcase has been French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
