Here is an example of a good quality antique English oak side table, circa 1860, which has been constructed from earlier timbers (possibly late 17th or 18th century timbers) during the Victorian period. This is a primitive table and would have been used in a simple country dwelling. The item features a primitive moulded two-plank top. Below, there is a single working drawer, which features a pretty brass pear drop handle, with a brass starburst back plate. The drawer is oak lined and constructed with hand dovetail joints. Below the drawer is a primitive shaped apron. The table has been handmade using the pegged construction method; this is evident around the body of the table. The table stands on four small elegant baluster turned legs, which are united by stretchers (for added support), and terminate on simple bobbin feet. The table boasts a superb rich oak colour and is in good condition.
This item features a dark oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
This table is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and top but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The table has been constructed during the Victorian period, from earlier timbers (possibly late 17th or 18th century timbers). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
