Description:
This is a top-quality antique English Chippendale wingback chair, constructed in the Victorian period circa 1860, with mahogany legs, in excellent condition. The armchair has been newly upholstered to the calico stage, and is now ready for the customer to choose their preferred top fabric. This antique Chippendale style armchair is constructed with a heavy-duty beech frame; with sturdy springs to the seat frame; upholstered with horse hair and Dacron fillings. The frame has been upholstered to the calico stage, allowing the customer to decide and fit their own top fabric.
Featuring a serpentine top rail, striking shaped wings and splayed arms, set above a sprung seat; which is extremely comfortable to sit in. The underside of the wing chair has been finished with a traditional hessian. The Chippendale wingback chair is raised on well-pronounced claw and ball feet, decorated with acanthus leaf carvings at the knees and splayed legs at the rear. The claw and ball front feet feature the original castors.
The advertised price does not include the labour cost of upholstering the chair in the customers’ top fabric. If you would like us to upholster the chair in your choice of top fabric, we estimate the labour cost will be an additional £400.
This Chippendale wingback chair would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room, office or library. This mahogany wingchair would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
The mahogany legs boast a mellow warm brown colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
How much fabric is required to re-cover the Wing chair?
If it’s plain fabric, we estimate a minimum of 8 metres.
If you want a cushion, we estimate 10 metres.
If it’s patterned fabric, it will be greater (depends on pattern repeat).
