This is a fine quality antique English Georgian linen press, constructed from figured mahogany, circa 1800, in excellent original condition. The linen press incorporates a detachable moulded cornice to the top, above two lovely solid figured mahogany panel doors. The left-hand door retains its original brass sliding latches, while the right-hand door features a working lever lock (with working key). The top section opens to reveal a bank of five original sliding linen trays, constructed with oak drawer linings and pine drawer bottoms. These trays provide lots of storage space for linen and clothes. The base section comprises a two-over-one drawer configuration, with further plentiful storage space. The drawer sides are oak lined and hand-dovetailed, therefore constructed in the original manner. The drawer fronts are decorated with elegant figured mahogany fronts, cock-beaded detail, whilst retaining the original brass oval plate handles and backplates, key escutcheons and working locks (with key). The linen press is raised on its original bracket feet (which is rare to see, as these are usually replaced with changing fashions or get damaged over time). The linen wardrobe also features the original pine backboards. The linen press dismantles into three sections (cornice, top and base) allowing easy access up the staircase and into the bedroom.
This Georgian wardrobe features a rich red-brown mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Georgian mahogany linen chest is an excellent investment but is also very practical for storage and would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the bedroom. This item would certainly grace any home.

This is a fine quality antique English Georgian linen press, constructed from figured mahogany, circa 1800, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering its age. The linen press has been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The doors lock using the original brass working lever lock (with working key). The drawers retain the original brass oval plate handles and backplates, key escutcheons and working locks (with key). The press is raised on its original bracket feet. The linen press also features the original backboards. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
