Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Georgian solid mahogany extendable “d end” dining table, circa 1810, which seats between 8 – 10 persons, boasting a fabulous mellow colour and in good original condition. The table comfortably seats 8 persons but can seat up to 10 persons (see photos). Constructed from top quality mahogany, the table features a solid mahogany top with a stunning colour, decorated with dentil satinwood and ebony string inlay, above a straight frieze, which boasts further dentil satinwood and ebony string inlay. The table is raised on lovely inlaid tapering legs, which terminate on the original brass castors. The table consists of a pair of “d” end tables with two addition ‘drop-in’ leaves for extending the table. The table can be configured in a multitude of different ways: the two “d ends” can be used separately as console tables, or they can be locked together to form a circular centre table, which will seat four people. The rear legs of the “d ends” can be folded out to support a single drop-in leaf in the centre, which will seat six people. Finally, both drop-in leaves can be added between the “D” ends, in order to create the full-size dining table, which will seat up to 10 people. This ability to be configured in so many different ways allows the table to be utilised in the best way possible according to room size and intended use. The table retains its six original brass clips, which are used to connect the various sections together. The chairs in the picture are not included in the price.
The table boasts a stunning mellow brown mahogany colour. It has fantastic original colour and patination this is due to the years of care and cleaning it has received.
