Description:
This is a fine quality antique English George III solid oak country duet stand, ideal for use a music or book stand / lectern, circa 1780 – 1800, in excellent original condition. Of vernacular / country design, it comprises a rotating triangular hollow block, with shaped book-rest upstand, the stand can accommodate large books or sheet music on either side. The triangular block is detachable from the stem to enable easy movement or transport of the item. The triangular block sits on a substantial ring turned oak central column, supported by three cabriole legs, secured by it’s original steel bracket underneath, terminating on pad feet. The stand has been cleaned and wax polished to a professional standard in our workshop.
The music stand exhibits a rich dark brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The stand has been cleaned and wax polished to a professional standard in our workshop.
The column and triangular block are solid and the feet are original. The feet retain its original steel supporting bracket underneath, which is nice to see.
