Description:
This is a fine quality antique George III English oak tripod table, with a desirable “dish top” design, incorporating a tilting mechanism, circa 1780, in excellent original condition. The oak tripod table boasts a single two-piece solid oak top, displaying lovely medullary rays and a stunning rich oak colour. The oak tripod table boasts a fine “dish top” design, making this a more desirable example of a Georgian tripod table. The tilt top table features the original working hinge and brass locking mechanism, which locks the table into place when horizontal. The pedestal locks into the brass locking mechanism. The oak tripod table has been designed with a well-shaped baluster turned central pedestal stem, uniting the cabriole legs on pad feet further below.
This oak tripod table boasts a mellow oak colour. The table has been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination are of an excellent standard, coupled with the years of care and cleaning it has received.
The oak tripod table would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room, dining room or hallway. This is a fine quality antique George III English oak tripod table, with a desirable “dish top” design, incorporating a tilting mechanism, circa 1780 – 1800, in excellent original condition. The oak tripod table has been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination are of an excellent standard, coupled with years of care and cleaning it has received. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges and dish-top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The original brass locking mechanism is complete and in excellent working order, which is nice to see. The oak tripod table features the original top, base, pedestal, and legs. The oak tripod table is solid in joint and is ready to use.
