Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian oak cross-banded lowboy / side table, circa 1780, displaying a lovely rich colour and patination, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a twin-plank moulded oak top, decorated with cross-banding, above three drawers, comprising two small drawers above a wide lower drawer. The drawers feature period replacement elegant brass fretwork back-plates and swan neck handles. The oak lined drawers are constructed with hand dovetail joints and the drawer fronts are decorated with cock-beading. The top drawer incorporates a working lock, with working key. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. Below, the table is decorated with a decorative shaped central frieze and stands on block tapering legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional method.
This item features a lovely rich mid brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
This lowboy table is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, drawer fronts and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawers are in good working order and close flush to the frame. The drawers feature period replacement elegant brass fretwork back-plates and swan neck handles. Original drawer linings and bottoms, which show age related gaps. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined construction method. There is no missing cross-banding to the top or drawer fronts. The table boasts a lovely rich colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
