Description:
This is a top-quality antique English Georgian mahogany carver, from the George IV period, circa 1825, ideal as an office / desk / occasional chair, with a newly upholstered seat, in excellent original condition. This strong and heavy chair is designed with an attractive curved bar back decorated with reeding, flanked by reeded stiles, with a reeded splayed horizontal splat, secured to shaped, reeded vertical supports and down swept arms on turned supports. The seat frame is raised on ring turned front legs, with sabre legs to the rear. The legs are united by elegant turned cross-stretchers, which denote the quality of this chair (few Georgian chairs feature this extra detail). This Georgian mahogany carver boasts the original polish; therefore, it has a fantastic depth of colour and patination, displaying a lovely rich red and brown colour. The seat has been newly upholstered to a professional standard in pale grey herringbone structured wool & cotton upholstery. The upholstery is therefore clean and free from wear and marks. Condition Report:
This is a top-quality antique English Georgian mahogany carver, from the George IV period, circa 1825, ideal as an office / desk / occasional chair, with a newly upholstered seat, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering their age. The Georgian mahogany carver has been glued solid in joint and the chair frame has been French polished in our workshop by hand, to a professional standard, therefore, the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The seat has been newly upholstered to a professional standard. The upholstery is therefore clean and free from wear and marks.
