Description:
Here is a fine quality pair of antique English Art Deco bedside tables, with a skyscraper design, circa 1930, in excellent condition. The pair of bedside chests are constructed with stunning burr & figured walnut timbers on a solid carcass. The Art Deco bedside chests are built with a stepped “skyscraper” design, with a smaller narrow drawer to the top section, sitting on a wider block moulded rectangular frame, incorporating two large drawers. The three drawers are constructed with dovetail joints, hardwood linings and the original bar-shape vertical handles. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The Art Deco bedside tables stand on a recessed plinth base. This pair of nightstands boast classic Art Deco styling throughout; this is visible in the rounded corners, clean lines and stepped design.
These Art Deco bedside tables boast a rich warm walnut colour. The pair of nightstands display a fantastic colour and patination; having been cleaned and French polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard (along with years of care and cleaning they have received).
These Art Deco bedside tables would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom as bedside chests, or in the living room as lamp stand tables. They would certainly grace any home; either a traditional or contemporary setting. They are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
History of Art Deco Furniture:
Art Deco, sometimes referred to as Deco, is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. It influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewellery, fashion, cars, cinemas, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and vacuum cleaners. It took its name, short for Arts Décoratifs, from the Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925. Art Deco combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. During its heyday, it represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.
