Description:
This is a fine quality pair of Georgian mahogany dining chairs, circa 1780, in the style of the Chippendale period, with newly upholstered seats, in excellent original condition. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a shaped top rail, with a finely executed pierced central fretwork back splat, flanked by vertical moulded rails, featuring a drop-in seat within a fine twin-moulded seat frame. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality structured cream silk brocade upholstery, featuring a cream background, with a pale gold structure and duck egg blue spot. The seats have been finished with tradition hessian backing to the undersides. Therefore, the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm but comfortable at the same time – you do not sink into the seat. If you do not like the fabric, we will recover the seats in a fabric of your choice (we charge £30 labour per seat). The pair of Georgian mahogany dining chairs feature moulded chamfered block legs to the front, with sabre legs to the rear, united by ‘H’ stretchers for additional strength. Chairs with chamfered legs denote quality. This is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from other sets of chairs.
The pair of Georgian mahogany dining chairs boast a rich mahogany colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
This pair of Georgian mahogany dining chairs would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, office or library. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely set of furniture.
