This is a fine quality English Queen Anne style bow front burr walnut chest on chest, of small proportions, circa 1925, in excellent original condition. The chest on chest boasts stunning burr walnut veneers to the drawer fronts and solid mahogany to the sides, with a lovely grain configuration and colour. The chest on chest comprises a mahogany moulded top above a bank of four drawers in a bow front design to the top section. The chest consists of two halves. The drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles and shaped brass escutcheons. Furthermore, the drawers are mahogany lined, hand dovetailed and boast moulded drawer fronts. The top section terminates at the base of the intersection between the two chests, where a further horizontal moulding separates the two chests. The base of the bottom section boasts a lovely shaped apron. The top chest is smaller than the base chest, which consists of a further four bow fronted drawers. Therefore, the piece is very decorative and features lovely proportions. The whole piece is also designed with smaller proportions, so it is likely to fit in more rooms. The sides of the chests are also constructed from mahogany. The chest also features its original backboards and the whole of the chest stands on its original cabriole legs. The top and bottom are completely original. This is an ideal item for the bedroom or landing for storing clothes.
The chest boasts a rich brown burr walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from bedroom to the landing; it is very useful as there are so many drawers for storage. This item would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
The chest is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and inside of drawers but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All eight drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles, escutcheons and close flush to the frame. The chest also stands on its original cabriole legs and retains its original backboards. This chest boasts its original polish, which ensures a fantastic colour to the burr walnut. It is solid in joint, does not wobble and is ready to be used.
