Condition Report:
This is a pretty antique English Victorian 3ft 10½” mahogany and leather pedestal office desk, circa 1870, in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the desktop frame, pedestals and plinths, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The desk retains a beige colour leather skiver, which is in good overall condition, showing some signs of age-related wear and nominal old use marks; which all add to the character and age of the desk (please see photos). The desk has been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The drawers are constructed with hand dovetail & quarter beaded joints and mahogany linings; they run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The drawers feature replacement turned mahogany knobs, whilst the working brass lever locks are original and come with a working key. Old use and ink stains present to the drawer bottoms (please see photos). The back of the desk retains its original boards and the pedestals stand on its original steel castors. This desk is solid in joint and ready to use.
