Description:
This is a rare antique Anglo-Indian Victorian campaign linen press chest, constructed form solid teak, circa 1860, with stunning colour, in good original condition. This Anglo-Indian teak cupboard / chest is of rustic construction, designed with a which has a campaign influence. The top section comprises of a double moulded protruding cornice, with two stunning dome shaped figured teak doors, flanked by carved corbels top and bottom of the pillars. The left-hand door retains its original brass sliding latches, while the right-hand door features the original working lever lock (with working key). The top section opens to reveal a storage area, with a central shelf. The base section comprises a two-over-three drawer configuration, with further plentiful storage space. The drawer sides / bottoms are teak lined and hand-dovetailed. The drawer fronts are decorated with simple scribe mouldings, incorporating diamond shaped ebony key escutcheons, retaining the original recessed brass campaign handles, with working brass lever locks (and key). The campaign linen press chest is raised on its original plinth base and stands on its original bun feet. The Anglo-Indian cupboard also features the original teak panelled backboards. The Anglo-Indian cupboard dismantles into two sections (top and base) allowing easy access into the house.
The campaign chest / cupboard boasts a stunning rich red-brown colour, as it retains its original patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This campaign linen press chest is an excellent investment but is also very practical for storage and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom to kitchen. This item would certainly grace any home.

This is a rare antique Anglo-Indian Victorian campaign linen press chest, constructed form solid teak, circa 1860, with stunning colour, in good original condition. This Anglo-Indian teak cupboard / chest is of rustic construction.Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering its age. The Anglo-Indian cupboard / chest has been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The doors lock using the original brass working lever lock (with working key). The drawers retain the original turned brass recessed campaign handles, ebony key escutcheons and working locks (with key). The drawers are constructed of solid teak and close flush to the frame. The Campaign linen press chest is raised on its original plinth base and bun feet. The Anglo-Indian cupboard also retains its original teak backboards. This campaign chest is solid in joint and ready to use.
