Description:
This is a stunning quality antique Victorian English burr walnut gallery topped Canterbury, circa 1860, displaying fantastic patination, in good original condition. The Canterbury boasts a shaped pierced fretwork gallery finished with turned finials at the rear, which encompasses a raised shelf, which displays stunning burr walnut veneer grain configuration. Four turned columns support the raised shelf. A triple panel magazine section sits below, encompassed by magnificent outer fretwork panels incorporating ring turned dividers with a drawer below, constructed from mahogany drawer lining and hand dovetail joints. The magazine section is ideal for storing newspapers, magazines or even sheet music. The Canterbury is raised on fine baluster turned legs, which retain the original brass cup castors and white ceramic mug castors.
The Canterbury features a rich burr walnut brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
