Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian solid mahogany swivel office chair, circa 1890, in excellent working condition. The chair features a curved bar back, secured by wrap around arms, on shaped vertical supports. A bank of vertical ring turned spindles unite the shaped bar back and wrap around arms to the mahogany seat frame. The chair seat is upholstered in top quality full grain burgundy dark red leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked studs to the seat perimeter. The underside of the seat has been webbed in the traditional manner. The chair rotates 360 degrees. The rotating mechanism has been cleaned and serviced and is in good working order. The chair sits on four splayed solid mahogany legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass & mug castors. The chair is very comfortable to sit on, has a fantastic colour and is in good condition.
This item features a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
This mahogany office chair and mechanism are in excellent overall condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been glued and the frame French polished by hand, to a professional standard. The chair seat features a top-quality full grain burgundy red leather. Nominal old use marks and wear to the leather seat – please see photos. The seat incorporates traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter and traditional webbing to the underside. The revolving mechanism is in good working order, having been stripped down, cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism, but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair, and will be found in all office chairs of this age. The chair sits on four splayed solid mahogany legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass & mug castors. This Victorian office chair is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
