Description:
This is a fine quality antique English early Victorian butler’s tray table, with shaped walls, constructed of solid mahogany, boasting a lovely rich colour, circa 1840, ideal for use a coffee table / drinks table, in excellent original condition. Trays similar to this butlers’ tray were originally used both on grand tours and campaigns, but also in wealthy houses for serving drinks. This Victorian butler’s tray table would be ideal for use in the living room but also as an occasional table in the hallway. It boasts a large rectangular tray with finely shaped walls, incorporating pierced carrying handles and constructed with hand-dovetailed joints. The mahogany tray separates from the associated base. The mahogany base is constructed with four moulded legs, united by a “H” stretcher for additional strength. The level of detail and craftsmanship displayed are of a high standard.
The Victorian butler’s tray table tray has been cleaned and French-polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. There are no ring / water marks on the tray top surface. This tray and table are a lovely example of a Butlers’ tray design which was originated in the Georgian period.

Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and top but nothing significant considering the age of the item and years of use. The Victorian butler’s tray table tray has been cleaned and French-polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. There are no ring / water marks on the tray top surface. There are no splits to the tray either. The associated base is also in excellent sturdy condition. This Victorian butler’s tray table is solid in joint and ready to use.
