Description:
This is a fine quality antique English early Victorian chaise longue, constructed of mahogany, circa 1850, which has been newly upholstered in pale blue chenille, and is in excellent condition. The chaise features (when facing) a right-hand raised sweeping upholstered arm. The carved & moulded back frame, which is also upholstered, sweeps down and terminates on the base of the seat. The Victorian chaise boasts a scroll shaped arm, which displays foliate carvings and mouts at the base and scroll end. The arm and backrest are solid in joint. The chaise has been newly upholstered in a top-quality pale blue chenille patterned material, finished with matching braiding. The swab cushion seat has also been re-upholstered and is therefore extremely comfortable to sit on. The underside of the chaise has been traditionally upholstered in hessian backing material. The Victorian chaise longue stands on its original baluster turned legs and terminates on solid brass cups and castors.
This Victorian chaise exhibits a lovely mellow red-brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Victorian chaise longue would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room or bedroom and would suit either a traditional or contemporary setting. The sofa chaise would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.
