Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian oak and brown leather revolving captain’s office armchair, with large proportions, circa 1880, which has been newly upholstered, and is in excellent condition.
This style of chair was also known as a “Captains chair” and boasts large proportions. The chair incorporates a curved, buttoned padded backrest, secured to oak wraparound upholstered arms, all supported by a bank of reeded spindles. The front of the arms also rests on turned supports. The chair has been newly & professionally upholstered with traditional horsehair filling and top-quality full grain brown leather, finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The seat has been re-sprung, to ensure it is firm but comfortable. The underside of the seat has been covered with traditional hessian in the traditional manner. This beautiful piece sits on four splayed legs, terminating on solid brass & mug castors. The chair rotates 360 degrees the mechanism runs smoothly. The chair mechanism is in good working order, having been cleaned and serviced. The chair is extremely comfortable to sit on.
The chair exhibits a rich brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or study as it is so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
