Description:
This is a fine quality antique Victorian flame mahogany two-door chiffonier cabinet, circa 1850, in excellent original condition. At the top, the chiffonier boasts a raised back with ‘C’ & ‘S’ scroll carved perimeter and a central carved pediment. The raised back also features a single shelf, supported on scroll shaped moulded brackets, above an oval shaped inset panel. Below, the chiffonier comprises a straight-edged single-piece top, above a single drawer. The drawer is hand-dovetailed; mahogany lined and features a gently moulded front. Further below, the chiffonier boasts two lovely mahogany doors, both featuring inset ogee arched panels. The right-hand door retains its original working lock, with a key. Inside, there is a central shelf. The left door retains its original internal brass locking latches. The frame either side of the cupboard is decorated with acanthus leaf corbels at the top, and reverse-corbels at the bottom. The chiffonier stands on a lovely protruding block plinth, with the back of the chiffonier retaining its original pine backboards. This Victorian chiffonier is certainly an example of high-quality piece, with a high standard of construction.
The chiffonier boasts a rich mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique Victorian flame mahogany two-door chiffonier cabinet, circa 1850, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chiffonier has been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination of mahogany is of a high standard. The drawer and doors close flush to the frame; they are not warped and there are no splits to the door panels. The drawer is mahogany lined and features dovetail construction. The right-hand door retains its original working lock (with a working key) and the left drawer retains its original internal brass locking latches. The carcass is solid in joint with no loose movements and there is no missing veneer. The chiffonier stands on its original block plinth. This item is solid in joint and is ready to be used.
