This is a delightful, well-proportioned and very good quality antique inlaid Georgian Regency mahogany bedside cabinet, circa 1820, in good original condition. Originally designed for use as a night commode, it now makes a very pretty and useful bedside cabinet or lamp table. The cabinet is constructed of solid mahogany and features satinwood string inlay to the top and two door fronts. To the centre of the top and doors are elegant shaped satinwood shell inlay motif. The top features a practical gallery tray top with two useful carrying handles; the gallery is useful in that it stops items rolling or falling off the top of the cabinet. The cabinet retains it original studded brass escutcheons and brass drop ring handles. Likewise, the two doors retain its original brass-locking latch. The cabinet doors open to reveal a useful storage area inside. Below, there is an oak lined, hand-dovetailed drawer, which is useful for storing further items. The cabinet stands on its original length legs.
This would make on excellent bedside cabinet or lamp table. This is an extremely useful piece of furniture and a great asset to have in any bedroom, living room or hallway as it consumes very little space.
As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
