Description:
Here is an example of a superb set of 8 antique French Louis XV style carved oak rush seated ladder back kitchen chairs of the 3rd Republic period, circa 1910, in very good condition. The set comprises of 8 side chairs from a true set (they have not been matched together from smaller sets). Featuring a shaped top rail with a floral carved motif and two further shaped rails below, in the form of a ladder back design within the shaped upright supports; the chairs feature “drop-in” rush seats, all of which are in good condition. The shaped seat frame incorporates a floral carved motif apron. The seats are raised on fine cabriole legs to the front (which terminate on curled toecaps), with straight legs to the rear, all of which are united by elegantly turned stretchers for added strength and stability. The chairs are heavy in weight, which is a good sign of fine quality and it means they are sturdy.

The chairs feature a warm, golden brown colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

These chairs would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the kitchen or dining room. They would certainly grace any home in either a contemporary or traditional setting; they are a great investment, as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
