This is an attractive mahogany Victorian two door bookcase chiffonier, circa 1860. The bookcase boasts a protruding canopy above a glazed bookcase top which houses the three adjustable and original pine shelves. The doors to the base and top have beaded panels with inverted corners. The inside of the base has one fixed pine shelf. There is a working lock and key to the two glass doors. The upper cabinet is painted a baby blue colour. The whole piece sits on a mahogany round cornered plinth. The sides of the bookcase are mahogany. The bookcase separates into two halves for easy transportation. This is a good quality bookcase with attractive proportions.
This item is an excellent investment but also very practical and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway, dining room or living room. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Nominal old use marks to the top and base but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is a working lock and key to the two glass doors. There are no splits to the sides or front of the bookcase and the doors close comfortably. The cornice has been replaced some time ago. The wear and tear observed in this condition reports is common for a piece of furniture that is over 150 years old and does not present anything significant.
