Description:
This is a fine quality antique Welsh George III solid oak housekeepers cupboard, suitable for use in either the kitchen or hallway, with narrow proportions, circa 1780 – 1800, in excellent condition, which we believe to originate from Denbighshire, North Wales. The cupboard boasts an elegant protruding canopy above a solid boarded top. The cupboard is divided into two sections; the top section comprises a cupboard with two lovely arcadian fielded panel doors; the interior furnished with an internal central shelf. The left-hand door to the top cupboard retains its original rotating block (to secure the door closed) and the right-hand door retains its original work steel lever lock (with working key). Both top doors retain the original oak knobs. The bottom section incorporates two drawers within a cock-beaded opening. The drawers are constructed with dovetailed joints and are pine lined and feature later, possibly Victorian iron drop handles. The cupboard stands on their original bracket feet. The cupboard has good proportions, which makes it a sought-after size; it was designed to fit into small houses with low ceilings. The cupboard dismantles into two sections for easy transport and access into the house.
The housekeeper’s cupboard boasts a warm rich colour having been cleaned and wax polished in our workshop. As it displays the original polish it has a fantastic patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the kitchen, living room or dining room. This item would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

The doors retain the original oak knobs and drawers feature later iron drop handles, possibly Victorian in age. The drawers run smoothly, close flush to the frame and retain their original linings. The bracket feet and backboards are also original.
