This is a good quality Art Deco sideboard, constructed from figured walnut and decorated with boxwood inlay, circa 1940, in excellent original condition. Constructed with a skyscraper “stepped” design, incorporating a cross-banded moulded frame to the drawer and door fronts. Comprising two large drawers, the right-hand drawer is compartmentalised into three sections. The drawers are constructed with mahogany linings and dovetailed joints, whilst retaining the original Bakelite handles. The Art Deco sideboard
Is decorated with vertical boxwood inlay and walnut marquetry to the centre of the sideboard. Two large cupboard doors open to reveal a spacious interior, with a central shelf and three bottle holders to the bottom right-hand corner. Ideal space for storing drinks bottles or glassware. The design of the cupboard doors leads you to believe there are four drawers, when in fact they are the handles for the cupboards, which is clever. The Art Deco sideboard retains the original Bakelite handles to the drawers and door fronts, whilst the doors are also decorated with elegant figured walnut moulded cross-banding. A spring closing latch on the inside of the drawers ensures the doors stay closed once shut.
The Art Deco sideboard rests on its original block moulded feet. The backboards are original the sideboard retains its original backboards.
This Art Deco sideboard boasts a golden burr walnut colour; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received. The sideboard has been French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the finish and patination is in excellent condition.

The Art Deco sideboard, has been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the finish and patination is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The boxwood inlay and marquetry are in excellent condition and all intact. The drawers and cupboard doors are in good working order and close flush to the frame. The Art Deco sideboard retains the original Bakelite handles. The sideboard boasts a golden-brown walnut colour; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is solid in joint and ready to be used.
