Description:
This is a fine quality English 18th century style solid oak coffee table, circa 1980, made in Ipswich, displaying a rich oxblood colour, in excellent original condition. Ipswich is a renowned area for cabinetmakers making fine quality reproduction oak furniture. The oak coffee table incorporates a solid oak top, boasting a stunning rich oxblood colour, with lovely medullary golden rays in the grain, with a simple moulded and reeded frieze below. The two drawers are oak lined and run smoothly, closing flush to the frame. They are constructed with dovetail joints and decorated with Georgian style brass swan neck handles on shaped escutcheons. The oak coffee table is raised on ring turned legs on block feet. The feet are united by a useful oak pot-board. The oak table has been constructed in the traditional mortice and tenon pegged construction method. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
As the oak coffee table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This 18th century style coffee would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room, as a magazine / centre table. It would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
