Description:

This is a fine quality vintage French Louis bedside chest, in the XVI style, constructed with walnut, kingwood and brass, in an elegant kidney shape, circa 1950, in excellent original condition.  The bedside is designed in a lovely kidney shape, comprising its original fine Italian marble veined top, encompassed by a fine brass fretwork gallery and frieze, along with two working drawers. The bedside is constructed with mirror-matched kingwood veneers in a symmetrical form on each side of the bedside, with tulipwood cross-banding, boxwood and ebony string inlay. Additional floral brass ormolu trailing mounts are visible above the front legs, along with decorative brass floral fretwork handles. The bedside cabinet stands on cabriole shaped walnut legs, which are united by a lower shelf, decorated with a further brass gallery, terminating on brass toe caps.

As the nightstand boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The nightstand would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room or bedroom. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. Condition Report:

This is a fine quality vintage French Louis bedside cabinet, in the XVI style, constructed with walnut, kingwood and brass, in an elegant kidney shape, circa 1950, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, top and sides of the bedside cabinet, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (please see photos). The original marble top is in excellent condition with no breaks or damage. The brass galleries and mounts are all original, intact and in excellent condition. The two working drawers close flush to the frame. The bedside has been wax-polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard. The bedside therefore boasts a lovely mellow colour and patination. This item is extremely, well-constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
