Description:
This is a good quality antique English Georgian chest of drawers, constructed of solid mahogany, incorporating three drawers, featuring small proportions, circa 1810, in excellent condition. The chest is small enough to be used as a large bedside or nightstand. The top of the chest of drawers incorporates a lovely single-plank piece of solid mahogany, edged with reeded moudings, with a bank of three wide graduated drawers below. The drawer fronts display fine cock-beaded detail, which incorporate old period replacement oval brass handles and escutcheons. The drawers are constructed with traditional hand-dovetail joints and pine drawer linings; they run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The drawers retain their original brass lever locks, which are in good working condition, with a working key. The mahogany chest stands on solid shaped mahogany bracket feet. The back of the chest features the original pine back boards. The Georgian chest of drawers has been cleaned and traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard. The Georgian chest of drawers stands firm on the ground, is solid in joint and ready to use.
The Georgian chest of drawers boasts a lovely rich mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
