This is a fine quality antique English George IV Regency solid mahogany Canterbury, with small proportions, circa 1830, in excellent condition. The Canterbury comprises an outer frame with simple straight supports at each corner. The Canterbury is divided into four compartments, by five rows of simple, straight supports, each row topped with a curved horizontal bar. The compartments are ideal for storing magazines, newspapers or music sheets. Below is a drawer, which features old replacement brass knobs and is mahogany lined, constructed with hand dovetailing. The drawer also retains its original working lock, with working key. The Canterbury is raised on its original turned legs which retain the original brass castor collars and wheels. The Canterbury has been constructed from the finest mahogany timbers.
The Canterbury features a gorgeous rich mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
