This is a good quality small antique English Victorian solid pine trunk, boasting a boasting lovely mellow colour, with a rustic finish, circa 1880, in excellent original condition. The trunk has been wax-polished by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The trunk is constructed with a plank lid, with a joined box below. The lid is secured with a metal chain to enable it stay open unaided. The original lid features a straight edge and retains its original brass butt hinges. The interior is clean, dry and practical and functional. The interior also retains its original floorboards and backboards. The trunk also retains its original steel working lock (with key). The sides retain the original steel carrying handles. The trunk stands on its original plinth moulded base. The back of the trunk retains its original panels along with the original floor.
This item would look great in a variety of rooms from the hallway, to the living room or bedroom as a TV stand, coffee table, ottoman or blanket box at the foot of the bed etc.
This beautiful piece boasts a mellow colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Victorian pine trunk is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the top, external sides and leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The trunk has been wax-polished by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The interior is clean, dry, and usable. The original brass hinges are in good working condition. The trunk retains its original lid, floor, sides and back. The trunk also retains its original steel working lock (with key) and steel carrying handles. The trunk is solid in joint; it does not wobble on the floor and is ready to use.
