Here is an example of a good quality small antique Victorian beech tripod wine table, circa 1880 – 1900, with excellent proportions and a well-turned central pillar. The tripod table features a rich patina. Tripod tables with these small proportions were designed to be used a wine or supper tables. The advantage of this tripod table is that it features a single piece beech star shape moulded top, which is rare to see, and this is a sign of good quality. The tabletop is fixed and does not tilt. The table boasts a well-turned pillar that is supported by three splayed and chamfered legs.
This item would look great in a variety of rooms from the hallway, to the living room or bedroom. It has a beautiful deep rich patina, which has been generated by the years of cleaning and care it has received.
This item is in good condition. The colour of the table is superb and the top is free from scratches, stains or watermarks. Because the top is constructed from a single piece of wide timber, there has been movement to the level of the top (see photos). However, the table is solid and firm and does not wobble. Free of worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
