The pew has a carved fleur one end – this is because the pew has been reduced in length and one end originally sat against the wall. The pew has three square replacement patches in the seat – this is often found where pews have been shortened in length or where the branch of the tree joins the trunk the knot has been replaced otherwise it would have been very rough to sit on.
