Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Edwardian oak office armchair, featuring a revolving mechanism, circa 1910, which is in excellent condition. The armchair features a comfortable and supportive curved high bar-back design, connected to wrap around arms, supported by an elegant vertical fan back. The seat is shaped with a “saddle” shape design making it comfortable to sit on. The chair has also been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The chair sits on four solid oak legs that terminate on top quality brass castors. The chair incorporates a revolving cast iron mechanism and it rotates 360 degrees. The seat does not recline and it is not height adjustable – many Victorian and early Edwardian office chairs were constructed this way. The cast iron chair mechanism has been cleaned and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on.
The Edwardian oak office chair features a rich colour. It has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Victorian desk chair would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or study as it is so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
Here is a fine quality antique English Edwardian oak office chair, featuring a revolving mechanism, circa 1910, which is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair boasts a lovely dark oak colour, having been cleaned and professionally French polished, by hand, in our workshop. The Edwardian oak office chair retains its original cast iron revolving mechanism and is in good working order, having just been cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The Edwardian oak office chair features good quality English made brass castors, which are excellent condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
