Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English 17th century Charles II solid oak provincial side table, circa 1660, displaying a lovely rich original colour and patination, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a three-plank moulded top, with a well-proportioned over hang, above a single drawer. The drawer is decorated with a part-recessed front, as well as the brass drop handle on floral escutcheon, which is a later period replacement. The drawer retains, what we believe to be the original working lock, with a working key. The drawer which is constructed with butt joints, runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame and is all original. Below, the table features a moulded frieze and stands on fine quality ring turned legs, which are united by stretchers, giving the item additional strength. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional method.
This item features a lovely rich mid brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
