This is a fine quality antique English 17th Century style oak settle, constructed during the Victorian period, with a high back, incorporating fine quality carved panels, with a newly upholstered seat, circa 1870, in excellent condition. The 17th Century style oak settle is constructed of solid oak panelled timbers and features a high back with a good angled “rake”. The back consists of five inset finely carved panels depicting 17th century guilloche, bead & geometric carved designs, in between moulded stiles and rails. The back is secured by shaped arms, decorated with scratch carving, secured by barley twist supports. The 17th Century style oak settle boasts a newly upholstered seat, upholstered with structured grey & tan structed linen / slub fabric. Therefore, the seat is in new and clean condition, free from damage, wear or tear. If you would prefer the seat to be recovered in a fabric of your choice, please contact us for a quote. Below the seat, the apron displays further carved detail. The back of the 17th Century style oak settle boasts its original frame and boards; all of which are in very good condition. The settle rests on its original turned feet, united by a decorative barley twist stretcher, for additional strength. Built in the traditional manner, with a peg construction method, the 17th Century style oak settle is heavy and is a solid piece of furniture.
