Description:
Here is a fine quality primitive antique English George II oak occasional side table, circa 1730, displaying a lovely deep rich colour, in good condition. A table of this type would have been made for simple country dwelling. The table incorporates a simple twin-plank top, with a generous overhang, above a single flush working drawer. The drawer retains the original brass swan neck handles on circular escutcheons, which is nice to see. The oak lined drawer is constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below the drawer, features a pretty shaped apron. The table is raised on four turned baluster legs, which are united by simple stretchers for additional strength. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
This item features a lovely rich brown oxblood oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This table is in good condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, drawer front and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. . The drawer retains the original brass swan neck handles on circular escutcheons, which is nice to see. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic deep rich colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
