Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English George III oak provincial side table, circa 1820, displaying a lovely mellow colour, in good condition. The table incorporates a simple two-plank top with a moulded edge, above a single flush working drawer. The drawer features old replacement (most likely Victorian) brass drop handles on shaped circular escutcheons. The oak-lined drawer is constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints and is decorated with a moulded front. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. The table is raised on four straight, chamfered block legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
This item features a lovely mellow honey oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, or useful as a writing table. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
